Growing up, I believe, we used to despisee when our parents reminded us of things over and over . . . again and again. We, as parents, supervisors, or anyone in a position of authority don’t like having to repeat ourselves over and over, again and again. However, I have learned that God seems to think that such teaching style is effective . . . repetition, repetition, repetition.

One of my favorite scriptures is Joshua 1:8. It stresses and approves repetition, repetition, repetition. The Living Bible translation puts it this way,

Constantly remind the people about these laws,
and you yourself [meaning Joshua] must think about them [the people of Israel]
every day and every night
so that you will be sure to obey all of them [the laws].
For only then will you succeed.

After the people of Israel fled Egypt, Moses found himself having to remind the people of Israel, constantly, about how their God delivered them from slavery; Moses had to remind them of God’s blessings; had to remind them of God’s words. Why? Somehow, they seemed to forget overnight.

When Joshua rose to leadership, God told him to remind his people to constantly and continuously remember and meditate in God’s law . . . constantly.

We all have a little Israel within us that makes us forget the goodness of God. It is for that reason that, we too, need to, constantly, need to be reminded laws day and night, so that we may remember God’s goodness, and so that we may obey God’s law giving it a place of priority in our lives . . . for one reason, for only then will you succeed.

Pick one verse or a story a month. Meditate on it day and night. Reflect on it. Study it. Find yourself in the story. BUT, most of all, find God in it.
