From the Pastor's Desk:
Hi! Allow me to introduce myself to you and yours.
I am Rev. Elizabeth Marrero, but rather be called Pastor Liz.
I come to you with great excitement and expectation, as I am sure you as well have a lot of expectations. (wink)
I am of Puertorrican ascend (or heritage), but I my heart belongs to God’s kingdom.
I was conceived, born, and raised within Methodism while I was – at the same time – surrounded by other traditions; an experience that has shaped and enriched my life in a HUGE myriad of ways. I received my call between 14-16 years of age, but life happened and it didn’t come to fruition until much later. BUT, we can talk more about that later.
God has allowed me to connect with people from different cultures and ages throughout my years, and, now, you are now coming to enrich my life more with your life experiences and passion. I am hoping that, together and with the leading of the Holy Spirit, we get to build something different, strong, and beautiful for the Glory of God and for the blessing of many . . . and ours.
I believe that when God wants to do something AMAZING, distractions of many kinds happen. That is why, I believe, we cannot waste time getting offended over . . . things, passing judgment, and complaining for things that are either are not vital or that cannot be controlled. Those things are . . . distractions that prevent us from accomplishing God’s will on earth as it is in heaven.
I am excited to see what God has in store for Asbury UMC, for the surrounding community, and for each of us individually as we continue to grow into the image and likeness of the one who loved us first.
The best is yet to come!
